Hi Chrissie !
Nice to be back. It's a long time ago since I came here for the last time and I hope you are doing fine. I also hope you will read this message.
I haven't been stopping looking for my film or series with kids on a treasure hunt next to a water mill (on and off to be honest) and I have recently found something.
There is a 1964 British series called "The barnstormers". Now I am going to show you all I've found about it in different forums :
1/ Five teenagers form their own theatre group called The Tudor Players and while searching for a suitable venue on which to perform they happen across an old watermill. It's rumoured that this was once the favourite haunt of an old pirate and that he hid his treasure there. So, the children begin to explore and discover that the mill is full of hidden corridors and trap doors. But time is against them because a local property developer has also heard the stories of hidden treasures ...
Sorry I can't add much more than this, but I can tell you that one of the episodes in this 11 part series from Associated Rediffusion was written by Henry Soskin who was also a cast member. The other 10 episodes were written by Joy Thwaites. The series also starred Dennis Waterman and was broadcast every Tuesday from 03/03/1964 to 19/05/1964.
And the players do manage to put on their show in the final episode.
2/ Children's serial about a group of youngsters on their school holidays who decide to investigate an old mill which is riddled with secret passages.
3/ Yes I remember The Barnstormers. It was a type of Famous Five type thing which had me enthralled as a kid, clamouring for the next episode each week. It aired in 1964 and was a one-off series that featured Dennis Waterman as a boy. I do remember that the team of kids was searching secret passages and such for the treasure of somebody called Alexander Martin. If anyone has any more information, I would love to hear it.
4/ The Barnstormers or similar anyone heard of it or seen it .Show is about a group of kids in an abandoned windmill that solves mystery cryptic puzzles each week.
I have also started a thread called "Series the Barnstormers" on one of the Britmovie forums, category "Ask a film question". If you go there, you will even see a photo of "The Barnstormers".
Does this series ring any bell to you ?
I thank you in advance.
